LOCATION
Dean is a delightful village located on the fringe of the National Park. A plan is attached showing the location of Dean. On leaving Keswick travel on the A66 trunk road towards Cockermouth, and at the Cockermouth roundabout take the Egremont Road (A5086). Continue on this road for about 4 miles to the sign for Dean (not Deanscales). Proceed towards Dean and after about ¾ of a mile you will see a sign indicating the village of Dean and The Royal Yew public house. Proceed towards the village of Dean and continue on to the next road sign indicating Branthwaite. Proceed on the Branthwaite road going past the church. The entrance to the Priory is a short way down on your left.
AMENITIES
Dean is a friendly, lively village community founded upon farming, and there are still five working farms in the village. There is a good primary school, pub and church. There is a local bus service, which travels through Dean several times a day, en-route to the local towns. The nearest shopping area is Cockermouth, some 4 miles north-east of Dean. Cockermouth has a medical centre, sports centre, swimming pool, galleries, museum, and restaurants. Easy access to the A66 connecting with Keswick and Penrith.
